POUGH AND HINES LEAD HERKIMER INTO REGION III CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Herkimer, NY - Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) and Darius Hines (Troy, NY) scored 16 points apiece as the # 1 seeded Herkimer Generals defeated the # 5 seed from Corning Community College by a score of 84-75 in a Region III Semifinal Game in Herkimer, NY on Saturday afternoon. The win, the 24th in a row for the Generals, gives them a record of 27-1 heading into Sunday's Region III Championship Game. 

Keshaun Howard (Brooklyn, NY) came off the bench to score 14 points while Isaiah Stone (Baldwin, NY) and Jaymes Jackson (Brooklyn, NY) notched 13 points apiece on the afternoon. Herkimer shot out to a 12 point halftime lead and led by as much as 25 in the second half before cruising home with the nine point win. 

The Generals will now play in their 11th Region III Championship Game in 14 years on Sunday as they will host the Mohawk Valley Hawks to decide who goes to Rochester, Minnesota for the 2019 NJCAA Division III National Tournament. The Hawks edged the Fulton-Montgomery Raiders by a score of 84-82 in overtime in the second regional semifinal to advance to the final. Sunday's game will be a matchup of two of the top three ranked teams in the nation as the Generals are ranked # 2 and the Hawks are right behind at # 3.  Game time for the Region III Championship is set for 2:00 PM.
