HERKIMER BASKETBALL ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH 97-85 WIN OVER NORTH COUNTRY

Herkimer, NY - For the seventh time in ten years, the Herkimer Generals are the Mountain Valley Conference Champions.

Using a 16-2 run to start the second half that turned a 46-45 halftime deficit to a 61-48 lead that they would never relinquish, the Generals clinched the outright MVC title with a 97-85 win over North Country Community College on Saturday afternoon in Herkimer, NY. The Generals end the regular season on a 22 game winning streak and improved their overall record to 25-1 on the season and a 15-1 mark in conference play.

Freshman Isaiah Stone (Baldwin, NY) led five Generals in double figures with 21 points. Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) scored 18 points and Jaymes Jackson (Brooklyn, NY) and Keshaun Howard (Brooklyn, NY) each came off the bench to score 14 and 10 points respectively. Darius Hines (Troy, NY) scored 12 points in the win as well. 

Next up for the Generals is the 2019 Region III Championship Tournament, which will start Tuesday night at campus sites. Herkimer, ranked #2 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll, are anticipating earning the # 1 seed and hosting a playoff game on Tuesday in the Herkimer Varsity gym. Opponent and gametime will be updated once the bracket is set by the Region III Selection Committee later this weekend.
