# 4 HERKIMER GOES ON ROAD TO DEFEAT # 6 MOHAWK VALLEY, 87-79

Utica, NY - In their third straight road game to start the 2018-2019 season, the Herkimer Generals, ranked # 4 in the NJCAA Division III Pre-Season Poll, beat # 6 Ranked Mohawk Valley by a score of 87-79 on Wednesday night in Utica, NY.  With the win over their rivals, the Generals improved to 3-0 on the year and 2-0 in the Mountain Valley Conference.

The Generals were in control for most of the first half and took a 44-39 lead into halftime. Herkimer stretched its lead to as much as 17 at 79-62 before the Hawks made a run to cut it to 6 with just about 3 minutes remaining. Herkimer then used clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to seal the 8 point victory. 

Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) led a balanced Generals attack with 18 points on the night, going a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line in the second half. Teshaun Beckles (Bronx, NY) added 17 points, including a huge tip in off of a missed shot with 3 minutes to go to hold off the second half rally by Mohawk Valley. Keshaun Howard (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 14 points, which included 4 3 pointers, and Derrick Felder (Yonkers, NY)  scored 13 points in the win.

Next up for the Generals is their home opener on Saturday, Nov 10 as they host Mountain Valley Conference foe Hudson Valley Community College to the Varsity Gym at Herkimer. Game time is set for 3:00 PM.
