HERKIMER BASKETBALL ENDS SEASON WITH THRILLING WIN

Loch Sheldrake, NY - The Herkimer Generals ended their 2017-18 season with a thrilling 84-79 win over the North Lake Blazers (TX) in the fourth place game of the 2018 NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball National Championships. The win gives the Generals a final record of 27-6 on the season and their 4th top 4 finish in the National Tournament since 2010.

After a dunk by North Lake to start the game, Herkimer ran off the next 15 points to take command early. The Blazers battled back to within two points at halftime, trailing 38-36. The second half was back and forth as neither team was able to separate from each other. With under a minute remaining and the score 78-74, Derrick Felder (Yonkers, NY) hit a huge three pointer from the right wing to give the Generals a seven point lead they would not relinquish.

Felder, who was an all tournament selection, was one of five Herkimer Generals to score in double figures with 13 points and 10 assists. Pough added 14 points in the victory. Teshaun Beckles (Bronx, NY) led the Generals with 18 points while Solomon Silas (Lagos, Nigeria) chipped in with 14 points.
