HERKIMER BEATS OCC IN 1ST REGIONAL SEMIFINAL 87-69

Herkimer, N.Y. - The Herkimer Generals won their first round of the NJCAA DIII men's regional semifinal Saturday by a score of 87-69.  Tensions were high to start the first half of play.  It wasn't until about midway through the first half when Herkimer began to settle in and pull away from OCC.  By half time Herkimer was up by twelve and didn't look back.

Freshman guard Derrick Felder (Yonkers, NY) led the charge for the Generals.  Felder scored 20 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and managed 5 assists for Herkimer.  But it was a group effort that knocked OCC out and gave Herkimer the win.  There were 6 players who scored 11 or more points in the win.  Tyres Desinor (Brooklyn, NY) and Musa Pough (Brooklyn, NY) combined for 31 points in reserve roles.

Herkimer will face Fulton-Montgomery in a much-anticipated matchup.  F-M (#8 seed) beat Herkimer (#2 seed) twice in the regular season by 8 points in both contests.  Tip-off will be home at 2 pm as the Generals try to pick up a win and prevent a third loss to F-M this season.
