Generals score season-high 100 points in win over Royals

SCHENECTADY, NY – Led by a career-high 27 points from sophomore Daniel Owens, the #9 Herkimer Generals men's basketball won their third consecutive game on Saturday (1/16), this time against Schenectady, defeating the Royals 100-53.

Herkimer (12-3, 6-0) has had their way with the Mountain Valley Conference through six games this season. Helping the cause, as mentioned previously was Owens. The guard shot 75 percent from the field (9-for-12) and 85 percent from deep (6-for-7) en route to a career-high 27 points. He also added six rebounds, six steals and four assists.

Also playing well behind Owens was Tyquan Scott (Long Beach, NY), Tru Garland (Bronx, NY), Patrick Dorrian (Kingston, NY) and Kristian Mondesir (Queens, NY). Scott led the group with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists. Garland, Dorrian and Mondesir all had 10 points. Garland added two rebounds, four assists and one steal; Dorrian added two rebounds and two steals; and Mondesir added four rebounds one assists and two steals.

Up next for Herkimer is North Country on Wednesday (1/20). The Saints have yet to be ranked this season, but have scored over 90 points six times and over 100 points four times. It has helped the team to an 11-5 record. All five loses (7-5) have come to Region III opponents. Coming into the game, North County is 2-3 in their last five. Herkimer is 3-2 in their last five. Tip off between these two is scheduled for 7 p.m.
