Men’s Basketball has three All-Region members

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals men's basketball team had three players earn spots on the 2014-2015 All-Region Team. The lone first team member was Ken Woodard (Bronx, NY). Second team members were Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY) and Carson Murphy (Mohawk, NY).

Woodard, a Communication Arts: Music Industry major at Herkimer College, averaged 13.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. In the region, Woodard was Top 10 in made field goals (166), total rebounds (227), offensive rebounds (95) and blocks (52). That wasn't it, as his 63.4 field goal percentage was third best.

Johnson, a Business: Sports & Recreation major at Herkimer College, averaged 14.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 29 games for the Generals. His 157 made field goals and 76 made three-point field goals ranked 15th and second in the region respectively, shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 37.8 percent from deep.

Murphy, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, averaged 9.9 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He ranked in the Top 10 regionally in five categories: total rebounds (240), defensive rebounds (181), rebounds per game (8.3), steals (49) and blocks (33). His 181 defensive rebounds was third best, but the sophomore also accumulated 86 assists, placing him 12th in the region, just outside of the Top 10.

"Ken, Jamell and Carson are very deserving of this recognition," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Matt Lee. "They are not the only ones who deserved to be recognized from this year's Generals team. I look forward to them leading us in the Region III playoffs!"
