Win streak ends at Monroe

ROCHESTER, NY – Riding a 13-game win streak into Monagan Court Tuesday (2/17) night to face the #6 ranked Monroe Community College Tribunes, the Herkimer Generals men's basketball team had their second worst performance of the season, snapping their winning streak with a 73-56 loss.

Herkimer (24-3, 15-1) shot 30 percent from the field and 19 percent from deep, while the Tribunes freshman Justin Vaughan knocked down five three-point field goals in the first half, en route to a 19 point lead at half.

That double digit lead helped Monroe prevail, getting outscored 30-28 in the second half, giving the Tribunes their 11th consecutive win to date.

Leading the Generals in scoring on Tuesday was Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY) and Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY). Each scored 12, with Langhorne adding five rebounds and two assists and Johnsn accumulating three rebounds and two steals.

Herkimer's next game is today Wednesday, February 18th. The team will travel to Schenectady Community College to take on a Royals team which has won one of their last 17 games. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
