Generals defeat Hornets on the road

BINGHAMTON, NY – With 10 players contributing on the road Saturday (12/6) against Broome Community College, the Herkimer Generals men's basketball team defeated their fourth consecutive Mid-State Athletic Conference opponent, winning 74-63 over the Hornets.

Herkimer (8-1, 3-0) has now won eight consecutive games, getting contributions from their entire team. Saturday's standouts on offense were Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY), Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY), Julio Galay (Bronx, NY) and Ken Woodard (Bronx, NY). The four players combined for 45 of the Generals 74 with Johnson leading the way with 13. After him, Langhorne finished with 12 and both Galay and Woodard finished with 10.

By intermission Herkimer built a double digit lead over the Hornet (47-35), despite getting to the line 16 times compared to the Generals four. It helped Jovanni Chatham to 13 first half points and a game-high 28, but Herkimer held the entire team in check with only four Hornets scoring in the contest.

The Generals are back on the road Sunday (12/7), facing Tompkins-Cortland Community College. The Panthers are 4-5 overall, but 3-2 against the Mountain Valley Conference. With tip off at 2 p.m., Herkimer will look to stay undefeated against Mid-State Conference teams.
