
Men’s Basketball loses season opener to Tribunes
HERKIMER, NY – Despite getting double figures from three players on Saturday (11/1) in their season opener of the Philly Classic, the Herkimer Generals men's basketball team lost to Monroe Community College in the varsity gym 85-72.
Herkimer (0-1) saw Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY) lead the way with 12 points, all coming in the first half. After Johnson, Jallah Tarver (Schenectady, NY), Ken Woodard (Bronx, NY) and Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY) were the only other Generals to score in double figures. Tarver scored 12, Woodard scored 10 and Langhorne scored 11.
Coming close to a triple double was sophomore Carson Murphy (Mohawk, NY). The guard finished with nine points, seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal and two blocks to fill up the stat sheet.
Herkimer gets right back at it Sunday (11/2) when they face Redemption Christian Academy. Game time between both teams is scheduled for 2 p.m.
