Generals Extend Win Streak to 12 with Doubleheader Sweep vs. Fulton-Montgomery

Herkimer Baseball extended its win streak to 12 with a doubleheader sweep against Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1: Herkimer 20, Fulton-Montgomery 3
Herkimer's offense exploded once again as the Generals opened Tuesday's home doubleheader with a 20-3 rout over Fulton-Montgomery Community College, powered by a grand slam from Hugo Kohnhorst in the first inning.

After falling behind 2-0 early, Herkimer quickly flipped the momentum with a six-run bottom of the first. Kohnhorst delivered the biggest blow — a no-doubt grand slam to center field. The Generals kept the pressure on, scoring three more in the second and adding eight in the third to put the game out of reach.

Jacob Severson crushed a three-run homer in the third, while Zowen Collins and Dylan Wolfson each drew bases-loaded walks to bring in runs. Jaden Madrid and Severson were both hit by pitches with the bases loaded, tacking on even more insurance.

Joey Citrangola picked up the win on the mound, allowing just three runs (two earned) over four innings. Ryan Cook tossed a scoreless frame in relief, striking out two. Marvin Hill led the way at the plate with a 2-for-3 day and two stolen bases. In total, Herkimer collected nine hits, nine walks, and stole five bases while playing error-free defense.

Game 2: Herkimer 19, Fulton-Montgomery 1
Game 2 was more of the same for the red-hot Generals, as Marvin Hill delivered a monster performance with eight RBI, including his second grand slam of the day.

Fulton-Montgomery briefly took a 1-0 lead in the first with a solo homer from Brendan O'Connell, but Herkimer answered immediately with three runs in the bottom half — highlighted by Hill's two-run single and an RBI from Mike Schleider.

The Generals blew it open with a six-run second inning, aided by a pair of Fulton-Montgomery errors and clutch RBI hits from Kohnhorst, Collins, Sanchez, and Wolfson. Hill struck again in the fourth, launching a grand slam to deep center, while Isaiah Ramos capped the scoring with a bases-clearing single.

David Denten earned the win, limiting the visitors to just one hit over three innings. Relievers Jacob Rentz and Chase Regan kept the shutout intact the rest of the way.

Severson led the Generals with a perfect 3-for-3 showing at the plate, while Schleider drew three walks. Herkimer worked 13 walks as a team and swiped seven bags, with Severson and Madrid each stealing two.

The Generals hope to keep the momentum rolling as they host Columbia-Greene Community College on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
