Herkimer Baseball Drops 2 in Doubleheader, Moves to 3-3 on the Season

The Herkimer Generals Baseball Team battled through another doubleheader on Wednesday, with a hard-fought 5-6 loss against Waubonsee Community College before falling 6-3 to Genesee Community College. The Generals now sit at 3-3 on the season as they continue their Florida trip.

Game 1: Late Rally Falls Short in 6-5 Loss to Waubonsee

Herkimer fought hard in the opener but ultimately came up just short in a 6-5 loss to Waubonsee. The Generals took an early lead with runs in the first and second innings, but Waubonsee responded with a four-run third inning to swing the momentum.

Shiryu Sato provided an offensive spark, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Obiel Sanchez added a two-RBI performance, while Thomas Lemonis also drove in a run to keep Herkimer in the game.

On the mound, Evan Staroba (1-1) took the loss, allowing six runs (three earned) in three innings of work. Ryan Cook provided a solid relief effort, throwing three scoreless innings with two strikeouts to give the Generals a chance at a comeback.

Game 2: Late Push Not Enough as Generals Fall to Genesee 6-3

In the second game of the day, Herkimer battled Genesee Community College but couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 6-3.

Genesee struck early with two runs in the first and three more in the fifth to build a comfortable lead. Herkimer attempted to mount a comeback with a two-run sixth inning, but the rally fell short.

Jaden Madrid and Hugo Kohnhorst both picked up RBI in the loss, while Dylan Wolfson and Jacob Severson each contributed hits to the offensive effort.

On the mound, Justin Peralta (0-1) took the loss, surrendering five runs over five innings while striking out four. Zowen Collins and Henry Tolentino each pitched in relief, keeping Genesee off the board in the final two frames.
