Former Herkimer Standout Greg Farone Drafted in Seventh Round by San Francisco Giants
Former Herkimer College standout left-handed pitcher Greg Farone was selected in the seventh round of the MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
Farone becomes the highest MLB Draft selection by any former Herkimer player. It's the third consecutive MLB Draft where a former Herkimer player was selected. Farone became the seventh former General to be selected.

After his two-year career at Herkimer, Farone transferred to the University of Louisville and most-recently to the University of Alabama where he finished his collegiate career.
Farone was one of the most dominant pitchers in junior college history, setting the NJCAA record in 2022 with 2.32 strikeouts per inning. He finished his Herkimer career with a 13-0 record while striking out 213 batters over 103 innings pitched.
He was named the 2022 NJCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year, Most Valuable Player of the World Series, a 2022 First-Team NJCAA All-American and the 2022 Region III Male Athlete of the Year.
