Farone throws perfect game as Generals go 4-0 on the weekend

Watertown NY/ Glen Falls NY- The Herkimer Generals traveled both Saturday and Sunday to take on Region III opponents Jefferson CC and Adirondack CC Timberwolves. The Generals won 6-1 and 17-1 over Jefferson and 10-0 and 4-0 over Adirondack CC.

The Generals pitching staff was remarkable all weekend. Ethan Patch (Whitehall, NY), Derek Hotzler (Cobleskill, NY), Greg Farone (Schenectady, NY) and Ryan Packard(Oneonta, NY) all picked up wins for the Generals. The starting pitchers pitched a combined 22 innings on the weekend only allowing 7 hits and 3 runs while striking out 36 opposing batters. Farone struck out all 15 hitters he faced on Sunday to complete a perfect game, marking the first time in program history that a pitcher has accomplished this feat. Ryan Packard followed suit with a 1 hit shutout while striking out 10 and only walking 1 hitter in 7 innings of work. Packard moves to 6-0 on the season while Farone, Patch and Hotzler all picked up their 3rd win of the season. 

Herkimer offense scored 37 runs on the weekend and were led by Sal Carricato (Farmingville, NY), Kyle Caccamise (Hopewell Junction, NY) and Ethan Duda(Latham, NY). Carricato went 5-9 on the weekend with 5 RBI's and 4 runs scored. Caccamise went 8-14 with 5 RBI's with 3 stolen bases and Duda went 5-10 with 6 runs scored. Catchers, Ty Gallagher (Saugerties, NY) and Don Wille (Gilboa, NY) provide solid defense and offense all weekend, adding 5 hits and 5 RBI's and 5 runs scored for the Generals.

After the game, Farone said "after the first inning I had command of all my pitches and knew it was going to be a good day". Farone went on to say "It's a pretty crazy feeling knowing I was the first in program history to strike out every batter. It was fun doing in, but most importantly it felt great adding another team win".

The Generals move to 20-4 on the season and will host Mohawk Valley CC on Tuesday April 25th at 2 PM.
