Herkimer forces Game 7, but drops Regional Championship game to Niagara

Little Falls, NY - After losing the Final Four opener on Friday, the Herkimer Generals had to win 4 games in 32 hours to win the championship in the double elimination format. They came up a couple of innings short.
After winning 2 games on Saturday, the Generals forced a winner take all Game 7 of the Region III Final Four against Niagara CCC by winning Game 6 on Sunday by a score of 19-8. But the Thunderwolves battled back from deficits of 4-0 and 9-5 in the final game and scored a run in the bottom of the 9th to take the Region III Title by a score of 11-10.
Herkimer Yuzuki Okamara (Shiga, Japan) and Matt Tobin (Newport,NY) earned all Tournament honors for the Runner-up Generals.
The Generals now sit at 32-4 overall with a #6 ranking in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll. They will have to wait until Monday May 24th to see if they have secured one of the two At-Large bids to the NJCAA Division III World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee from May 29-June 3.
