Glens Falls, NY - It was a hard fought doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in Glens Falls, as Herkimer and SUNY ACC continued their 4 game weekday series with the Generals coming away with a 5-3 win in Game 1 and a 10-10 in Game 2 that was called due to darkness. The results gives Herkimer, ranked # 7 in the NJCAA Division III National Poll, a record of 19-3-1 overall and 10-1-1 in the Region III Eastern Division.
Game 1 saw the Generals bolt out to 5-0 first inning lead and then hang on for the win. Matt Parkinson (Whitesboro, NY) kept up his torrid pace at the plate, going 2-3 in the game while Brandon Kruzinski (Schenectady, NY) also chipped in 2 hits from the leadoff spot and Cedric Rose (Pittsfield, MA) knocked in 2 runs in the first inning with the first of his two hits in Game 1. Benjamin Wager (Johnstown, NY) turned in another solid turn on the mound, going 5 innings and giving up 3 runs on only 2 hits. Dale Stanavich (Amsterdam, NY) kept the Generals lead at 2 over the last two innings of work on the mound as he gave up only 1 hit and got 5 out the 6 outs he recorded via strikeout.
In Game 2, it was SUNY ACC's turn to jump out on front, taking leads of 4-0 after the first inning and 10-5 after 5 innings before Herkimer got 2 in the sixth and 3 in the seventh to catch the Timberwolves before the game was called a tie due to darkness. Parkinson once again paced the Generals hitting attack, going 4-5 with 3 runs scored. Minjae Hong (Seoul, South Korea) went 3-4 with 3 RBI's and Cam Collett went 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
The Generals now enjoy the Easter weekend off before hitting the road once again on Tuesday the 23rd with a Region III road twinbill against the Schenectady County CC Royals. First pitch in Schenectady is set for 2:00 PM.
