Mackenzie Holbert, October Athlete of the Month

Herkimer Generals women’s volleyball player Mackenzie Holbrt was named Green & Gold Female Athlete of the Month for October. Holbert, an Education: Early Childhood major at Herkimer College, helped the Generals finished their season on a positive note, winning all three matches against Mountain Valley Conference opponents. Holbert – a resident 0f Sauquoit, NY – started in all 10 matches in October totaling 21 aces, 49 kills, 26 assists, 55 digs and four blocks. The most aces the freshman had in a match was seven, most kills was nine, most assists was seven, most digs was 11 and most blocks was two. In each match Holbert totals over 10 points, Herkimer was undefeated (3-0). The only match she did score over 10 in a win was the team’s final regular season win, defeating Columbia-Greene 3-0. “Mackenzie is very much a team player,” said Head Women’s Volleyball Coach Dianna Ste-Marie. “She works hard every practice and game to improve as a team. She is always quick to help out a teammate both on and off the court. I have enjoyed having Mackenzie in the team and look forward to next year.”
