Jamell Johnson, November Athlete of the Month
Sophomore Jamell Johnson was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for November. Johnson, a Business: Sports and Recreation Management major at Herkimer College, helped the Generals to wins in their last seven games and the top spot in the Region III.
Johnson, a resident of Rochester, NY, has averaged an efficient 13.9 points in eight games during November, shooting 53.8 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from deep. His season-high came against Hudson Valley in a 78-63 victory, accumulating 20 points against the Vikings. To date Johnson has seven games with double figures. Helping him to those totals has been great outside shooting. The guard has shot 50 percent or better from three-point range in five of eight games.
“Jamell has led us with a steady contribution this month,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Lee. “He’s an offensive threat from the perimeter and plays with superior defensive intelligence, making it tough for our opponents to contain him throughout a game.”
