Herkimer Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Compete at Short Course Invitational

Herkimer College sent a small but determined team to compete in the SUNY Poly Short Course Invitational this past weekend. The Generals participated in both the women's 4K and men's 6K races.

Women's 4K Recap:
The Herkimer women's team was represented by Kearah Finlaw (SO) and Haley Cornine (FR). Finlaw finished 33rd with a time of 24:44.9, clocking in at a pace of 9:12 per mile. Cornine followed, securing 38th place with a time of 27:19.7, which equates to a 10:29 per mile pace. The team was incomplete, but the two athletes showed perseverance in a competitive field, gaining valuable experience for the season ahead.

Men's 6K Recap:
On the men's side, Herkimer was represented by five runners. The top finisher for the Generals was Michael Green (SO), who crossed the line in 22nd place with a time of 23:15.3, maintaining a pace of 6:15 per mile. Behind him was John Campagna (FR), who finished 43rd with a time of 25:43.0, running at a 6:54 per mile pace. Cameron Voce (FR) finished in 59th place with a time of 30:28.8, at a pace of 8:11 per mile, Bryan Doyle (SO) finished in 61st place with a time of 32:04.5 while Landon Davidson (FR) rounded out the team, finishing 64th in 37:12.7, with a pace of 9:59 per mile.

Despite not having a complete team on the women's side and facing strong competition in both races, Herkimer's athletes demonstrated their dedication and potential. The men's team placed well in the middle of the pack, showing promise for future meets.

The Generals will continue to train and aim for improved results in their upcoming races as they build towards the championship portion of their season.
