Williams named to National All-Tournament Team

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer men's basketball player Wendall Williams, Syracuse, NY, was named to the NJCAA DIII Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament All-Tournament Team Saturday.

Williams, a Business: Sports & Recreation Management major at Herkimer College, had his best three-game performance of the season at Paul Gerry Fieldhouse. He scored 79 points, shooting an impressive 71 percent from the field and 80 percent from three-point land. It helped him score a season-high 32 points against Anoka-Ramsey and 31 points against Lincoln College of New England in back-to-back games. His best scoring output prior to that in back-to-back games was 55 points.

Known more for his ability to get to the rim, Williams made 11 three-point field goals over the weekend at Sullivan Community College, the host for this year's national tournament. In his last two games, he only missed two attempts, going 11-for-12 against both the Rams and Wildcats, helping Herkimer to a seventh place finish in the tournament.

His Head Coach Matt Lee said, "Wendall's composure was where it needed to be this weekend at nationals. He had his best three-game performance thanks in part to a terrific mindset."
