Generals Bash Their Way to 20th Straight Win with Sweep Over SUNY Adirondack

The Herkimer Generals Baseball cruised to its 20th consecutive win with two five-inning defeats of SUNY Adirondack.

Game 1: Herkimer 19, SUNY Adirondack 2
The team defeated SUNY Adirondack 19-2 behind a pair of home runs from Mike Schleider and a jaw-dropping 16-run fourth inning.

Schleider launched solo shots in both the second and fourth innings, finishing with four RBI to lead the offensive onslaught. His second homer was part of a fourth inning where the Generals sent 20 batters to the plate, turning a close game into a blowout in a hurry.

Highlights from the fourth included a three-run bomb from Hugo Kohnhorst, a two-run shot by Dylan Wolfson, and run-scoring hits from Shiryu Sato, Obiel Sanchez, Jacob Severson, and Henry Tolentino. Schleider's second homer—a three-run blast— put an exclamation point on the inning.

Sato went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, and Kohnhorst drove in five runs. Madrid, Sanchez, and Schleider all had multi-hit efforts, while Tolentino added two walks. The Generals finished with 16 hits and seven walks, stealing three bases along the way.

David Denten earned the win on the mound, tossing five solid innings and allowing just one earned run on two hits.

Game 2: Herkimer 15, SUNY Adirondack 5
If the first game was a rout, the second game was nearly over before it started. The Generals erupted for 11 runs in the first inning to cruise past SUNY Adirondack 15-5 and complete the sweep.

Zowen Collins blew the game open with a grand slam to center, while Mike Alcantara and Jacob Severson added back-to-back home runs. Marvin Hill capped the inning with a two-run blast of his own. Herkimer showed patience at the plate as well, drawing five walks in the first alone.

The scoring didn't stop there. In the second, Sato launched a solo homer and Severson drove in two more on a double play ball. Wolfson added one more in the third with a sharp RBI single.

Joey Citrangola earned the win, striking out five over three innings while giving up just three hits. Jayden Rosario threw a clean inning of relief to close things out.

Wolfson, Hill, Alcantara, and Severson all tallied multi-hit games, and the team racked up four stolen bases and nine walks overall. Collins led the team with four RBIs, and Kohnhorst drew three walks in the win.
