No. 5 seed Herkimer finished identically to its seeding, finishing fifth in the country at the NJCAA Division III World Series. The Generals lost to the College of DuPage 3-1, ending its season at 29-10.
Two-way sensation freshman Sotaro Ishida allowed three runs in the opening inning before throwing seven scoreless.
Herkimer's bats were quiet in the loss, with Donovan Rhoden driving in the lone run on a fourth-inning double. The Generals had a prime opportunity to score with the bases-loaded and one out in the seventh inning, but the Generals grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the hopes of a comeback.
Herkimer recorded no hits in the final two innings to end the game.
